What is the HPV Vaccine?
A vaccine is a substance that improves immunity to a particular disease. The HPV Vaccine prevents both men and women from developing cancer and genital warts caused by the HPV virus. The HPV vaccine "Gardasil 9" is licensed for use from the age of nine. It protects against 90% of the HPV types that cause cervical cancer.

Who should get the HPV Vaccine?
The vaccine is for girls aged 11 to 12 years. It can also be used as a catch-up vaccination for girls aged 13 through 26 who have either been unvaccinated or have not completed the entire three series of Vaccination.
The immunization schedule is as follows:

1st vaccine Month 0 – €230

2nd vaccine Month 2 – €230

3rd vaccine Month 6 – €230
Cancer vaccines give lifelong immunity to the Human Papillomavirus.
It is recommended for young women before becoming sexually active. However, women over age 16 who are already sexually active can avail of it safely.
